The Summary of Handball V4 Cup

Within an international project of cooperation on development of youth handball, we held a tournament Handball V4 Cup. The tournament took place on 3. – 5. 9. 2021 in Polanka nad Odrou and at the University of Ostrava, with participation of teams from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary.

This prestigious international event passed off according to the plans in all three areas

  1. In the field of sport:

All the matches among girls and boys in age categories U14 and U15 passed off in a friendly atmosphere. The first place in girls category went to the team from Hungarian National Academy (NEKA) and in boys category to the Moravian-Silesian Team.

It is very important to emphasize that the tournament was not only about winning but one of the most important goals was to create a good rapport and help the teams to get to know one another. All these things are supposed to help us in organizing next international projects of the same kind in next years and they will follow on from this extensive project that has launched the cooperation.

  1. In the field of education

The training of coaches and young referees was evaluated as a very professional and of a high quality. The goal of passing on experience has been fulfilled.

  1. Cooperation among V4 universities:

University representatives from Ostrava, Bratislava, Katowice, and Budapest opened and led a discussion on further development in handball. A topic how to enhance the quality of new coaches has proved to be very important, especially in the way of educating them with the  help of professionals. This area still has its limits and therefore we have evaluated it as a area with top priority in order to improve work with youth in handball. The representatives from Hungary gave very interesting speeches on that topic.

It took a year and a half to organize such demanding event and we are pleased that it fulfilled the expectations. We have received very positive feedback from all the participants including the president of Czech Handball Association regarding all the aspects of the event including technical facilities.

Tired but at the same time satisfied and looking forward to the next year, to another country…, with these word we can close the Handball V4 Cup.

We would like to thank everyone who helped us with organizing this event!!!

On June 4, 2021, another meeting on the topic of Handball V4 CUP took place, this time in Katowice. The meeting was attended by the Czech side as the guarantor of the project and representatives of the Polish side.

The aim of the meeting was to acquaint our Polish partners, represented by Marcin Zubek and Dawid Leszczyniak, with the conditions and the ongoing status of the project.

National Hungarian Handball Academy also known as NEKA Nemzeti Kézilabda Akadémia hosted an international meeting on its home ground. The participants represented Czech handball association,Slovak handball association and NEKA.

The meeting took place on 2.6.2021.

The goal of the meeting was to establish good rapport and close cooperation within the project Handball V4 Cup. The Czech party as guarantor of the project informed the partners about the first necessary steps that had been taken at the initial phase of the project as well as with the conditions that must be fulfilled in order to successful implementation of the project. Both our partners are greatly interested in the project and therefore the discussion on that topic was very lively. The whole meeting was set in a very friendly atmosphere and led to a very constructive debate, which we are very pleased with.

It would be a pity to be on the ground of NEKA and not to take an advantage of taking a tour. We were glad to get that opportunity and have the most qualified guide Mr. Tamás Mocsai to show us around. We received above-standard care and there was plenty of space for our questions regarding running the academy.
